Creating a stir in the music world, Melanie became one of the youngest and most BMI popular female writers in the industry.

Melanie’s charming personality, along with her drive and ambition, landed her a five-year deal with the powerhouse publishing company, Famous Music (A Paramount Picture Company). After spearheading numerous successful songs and artists, Melanie created her own publishing company, Mellie Mel Music. Working with current and up-and-coming artists, Melanie has gone on to produce numerous hits with such esteemed labels as: A&M Records, Virgin Records, Warner Bros., MCA Records and Mo Jazz/Motown. Melanie also co-produced music along with American Idol's judge Randy Jackson.  Melanie opened a singing/dancing studio in the San Fernando Valley which quickly became the “hot spot”. In 2007, Melanie ventured out to the "O.C."(Orange County, California) and opened "Melody Makers Newport Beach" a Singing/Dancing/Recording Studio for beginners-professionals on the Balboa Peninsula!

Born and raised in an affluent Jazz Family, Melanie’s Grandfather, Snooky Young (world-renowned trumpet player), nurtured Melanie’s love for soul and taught her the beauty of speaking through music. Despite the abase of popular music today, Melanie’s high standards and family legacy have set her apart in the harsh world of music. Since the early release of “Let’s Wait Awhile, ” Melanie has continued to keep the standards of her music positive.
